The Story Behind the Project
Like thousands of shelter dogs across the South, Holliday was heartworm positive — a diagnosis that often becomes a barrier to adoption, rescue placement, and lifesaving opportunities. Yet heartworm disease is treatable, and dogs like Holliday deserve the chance to live.
A heartworm diagnosis can become the difference between a dog finding a home and a dog running out of time. Holliday was one of the lucky ones. He was adopted by his dad, Jonas Black, who saw beyond a medical diagnosis and gave him the second chance every shelter dog deserves.
Today, Holliday is thriving. His story is proof that heartworm-positive dogs just need someone willing to invest in their future. The Holliday Hearts Project gives more dogs that same opportunity — sponsoring treatment for at-risk dogs in Georgia shelters that have limited resources and little public visibility.
